Our mission is to create a future where individuals and families facing hardship can rediscover hope, strength, and freedom through life-changing outdoor experiences.

Jeff Dumas | President

Growing up, I didn’t get the chance to do any hunting. I am not from a hunting family. I had an uncle introduce me to the bow and arrow and that single moment led the rest of my life’s direction.
I have since grown up to be successful in every way that the word would define. Family, health, business, hunting. All the things I dreamed of as a kid.
The gift for me was the bow and arrow. I want to give the gift of the “bow” to those who may never find it. Who may never be lucky enough to find it. I want to use this organization to find them and to help people in need.
People in need may be single parents, mothers or fathers. It may be people who have life threatening illnesses. Or physical limitations. There is no age limitation on who I want to help. Single mothers who have kids that want to hunt and fish and camp and shoot guns, that otherwise, do not have a pathway into the lifestyle. Women in general who also want to get into the lifestyle, but again, have no pathway.
People who struggle with any level of PTSD.
Veterans, first responders, anyone who fits the criteria of the organization.
I got lucky, let’s help others get lucky too.

The outdoors has always held a sacred place in my life. Some of my earliest and most meaningful memories were made beside my grandparents. Time spent with them outdoors was never just about where we were; it was about connection, peace, and feeling grounded in something greater than myself. Because of them, the outdoors became tied to love, belonging, and family in a way that has stayed with me throughout my life.
Years later, when I became a single parent raising boys, I often felt the weight of wanting to give them everything they needed while knowing there were limits to what I alone could provide. My boys were full of energy, curiosity, and restlessness, and I was determined to help them find something that would give them purpose and confidence. We tried every sport and activity imaginable, hoping something would spark passion in them or help channel their energy in a positive direction. But nothing truly seemed to fit.
My oldest son just wanted to go hunting.
From the beginning, it was different. Hunting wasn’t just another hobby or pastime to him; it was something deeper, something that called to him in a way I could immediately recognize even though I knew nothing about it myself. I had no experience hunting, fishing, or spending time in that world, but I could see how strongly he was drawn to it. I knew it mattered.
Fortunately, our lives changed when we met a man who was willing to step in to help guide him. What began as teaching my son about hunting became something far more meaningful. He became a father, mentor, an example, and someone who helped shape my son’s direction in life. His influence gave my son confidence, discipline, purpose, and a sense of belonging that he desperately needed. I will always be grateful for the impact he had on our family.
Because of that experience, I also found myself stepping into a new world. I learned alongside my boys learning to hunt, fish, camp, and appreciate the outdoors in ways I never had before. What once felt unfamiliar quickly became one of the greatest blessings of my life. Through those experiences, we have stood together in some of the most beautiful places imaginable, sharing early mornings, quiet conversations, hard work, laughter, and memories that cannot be replaced.
The outdoors became more than a place we visited. It became where we connected most honestly as a family. Away from distractions and noise, we found clarity, peace, and togetherness. In those moments, surrounded by nature, life felt simpler and more meaningful.
Looking back, I realize the outdoors has connected every important chapter of my life. It connected me to my grandparents when I was young. It connected our family with love and appreciation of some of Gods greatest creations. Most importantly, it gave us time together genuine, meaningful time that shaped who we are as individuals and as a family.
Of all the experiences life has given me, nothing means more to me than that.

I want to be part of Freedom in the Field because I’ve seen what the outdoors and horses can do for someone. It clears your head, builds confidence, and gives you a sense of purpose, whether you realize it at first or not.
The truth is, not everyone gets that chance. A lot of people never get exposed to it, or they’ve got barriers in the way that keep them from it.
That’s what matters to me. I want to be part of something that actually gives people that opportunity. Not just talk about it but put them out there, let them experience it for real, and see what it does for them.
If I can help be the reason someone figures things out, gains some confidence, or just gets a reset they needed, that’s enough for me.

I was born on the opening day of the deer hunt in 1978, so I think this is my destiny to be a hunter.
Since then, I have been a part of many hunting trips and fishing trips and have loved to guide hunts as well. Sharing these experiences in God's country with close friends and family, as well as strangers, has been a passion and an obsession of mine. I have been very fortunate to see many glorious sunrises and sunsets while in the field hunting.
I’ve also been a part of many hunts in the field with people with health issues, from combat to paralysis, and this has touched my heart in many ways that I cannot explain, so I have made it my mission to help less fortunate individuals get out and have the same opportunities that I have had in the great outdoors. If I can make a difference in someone else’s life and show them what being in the field is like, I know this will be life-changing for them as well as for myself and future generations.

My name is Barry Albrecht! My beautiful wife (Kayona) and I are raising 2 of the greatest blessings God has given us, Barrytt Sue 4, and Klace 2. I am a full-time horse trainer and auctioneer, helping raise money for wildlife conservation, young sports teams, and selling cattle at a local auction barn.
Kayona has a master's degree in elementary education and currently teaches 5th grade. Kayona and I have both been raised in the great outdoors while hunting, fishing, camping, farming and cowboying in the mountains and deserts of central Utah. We also plan to raise our children the same way.
We learned to have a great passion for the outdoors where we learned right from wrong, respect for our elders and just to simply, hold the door for the next person! We are super excited to join this great organization to help share this amazing livelihood we get to live each day. To help mentor people to get to know this way of life that a ton of people have not yet had the opportunity to experience the landscapes of the great Rocky Mountains and the desert floors as well.
We want to help young people learn to hunt and the importance aspects of these animals that GOD gave us dominion over thousands of years ago! We truly believe that hunting and fishing is our livelihoods, and we just want to share campfires with people who we respect, and we want to cherish the moments and stories of the people we meet along the way! Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Jesus Christ, who strengthens me!
